  3. This is untrue. If Russia wanted to consume Ukraine, they would've done it in 2014 as soon as Yanukovych was ousted from office in the Obama-backed coup d'etat. Instead they stuck to Crimea and Donbass. Same goes for Abkhazia in Georgia. It was always about ethnicity for Russia.

  4.  @rimanm6934  that's nonsense. Between 1991 when the USSR was dissolved and 1999 when the first wave of NATO expansion began,, Russia was perfectly at peace with its neighbours. The real question is, why was NATO not disbanded after the USSR collapsed? They upset the balance of power in Eastern Europe by systematically cutting off all of Russia's access to year round warm water ports. Russia's reaction is long overdue.
