If Putin had done nothing as the US overthrew a sovereign country only to install their puppet, they would've become a security threat to Russia (the neo Nazee Svoboda party with their Azov regiment foot soldiers are natural Russia haters). So Putin beat the US to the punch by annexing Crimea. US meddling destabilized Europe.

Russia and Ukraine had peace agreements, but your leaders encouraged Ukraine to break them thinking Russia was weak and could be defeated by little Ukraine.
