  3. ​ @normanlazarus1836 when Putin said he applied to join, nobody in the West ever disputed or denied it. They never did for most of the things he was saying. For me, that's enough for me to keep an open mind about what could've happened.

  4.  @normanlazarus1836  I guess we're gonna have to wait until Assange makes more revelations on WikiLeaks before I can show you what you're asking for. But going by evidence, Ukraine and Georgia didn't even need to formally apply when they were invited by George Bush at the Bucharest Declaration of 2008. If NATO wants a country (and that country is not at war), they get them without drama like in the Baltics and Poland case. (It's also important to note that none of these countries held a referendum to join. Their political classes made this decision).
