Why does Germany have to even support Ukraine? Why can't Ukraine negotiate reasonably and intelligently? They had 8 years to implement Minsk 2 and they chose to spite Russia instead. So why does Germany have to pay for this misadventure?

Economics of scale. Germany is brimming with manufacturing plants that use massive volumes of gas. Poland's manufacturing demand is tens of times smaller than Germany's.

Sanctions are a cowardly way to fight wars. If you have beef with Russia, send your army to take theirs on. Why do innocent people have to suffer because you want to teach Putin a lesson? Anyway, a wise saying goes thus: "a coward dies a thousand deaths, a real soldier only dies but once". These cowardly sanctions will k1ll Europe a thousand times. Good luck!

@SideKickStudios yes I'm talking bout the same Russia that remained peaceful from 1991 when the USSR fell till 1999 when NATO began to expand in 5 waves. Have you ever heard about Julian Assange? Edward Snowden? Chelsea Manning? Don't act like even the so called "liberal democratic" governments don't have their fair share of politically motivated human rights abuses under different guises like "national security" or "anti terrorism" or "quarantine enforcement". Who told you there's no negotiating with Russia? Putin said it countless times (I'm sure you've never listened to any of his Munich Security conference speeches) that the expansion of a hostile military alliance in such a way as to blockade its access to year round water ports for trade is seen as provocation. Who is the real body that isn't negotiating? You seem to be totally unaware of the Russian side of the story when common sense dictates there are always two sides to a story and the "objective truth" is the intersection of the two of them. As far as Germany is concerned, the United Germany that exists today was made possible by Russia and both countries have enjoyed healthy trade for decades with no threats or acrimony. Are we supposed to inherit hatred for Russia because we are allies? Military alliances shouldn't be expanding in peacetime if they're truly "defensive". Mutual respect and free trade are the foundations of lasting peace in the world.
