Not everyone understands or likes democracy. Democracy has failed woefully in many places in the world, especially Africa. We have civilian dictators in Africa with whom the West doesn't seem to have any problems. So I don't judge Russians for not violently opposing Putin. Their economy and quality of life is still far better than some of our "democracies" over here.

@bartosza.6187 Economy and quality of life in Russia, even in the rural areas is far better than Africans democracies over here. Do you know why? Because the West props up Africans dictators. Go and see how Nigerian elections take place for example. Extremely violent, and your governments recognise them. No sanctions, no punishment. Even when they kill us in large numbers, not a single peep from the West. I tell you, most Africans watching what's going on with Ukraine are shaking our heads in disbelief.

@miks564 you are missing my point being the UN and the West are currently ignoring hundreds if not thousands of petitions from these countries about the human rights abuses that their dictators commit to remain in power. Instead what we see is they give them legitimacy and praise them. Just a few months ago the US sec of state called Nigeria a country with freedom of religion, and we who knew about the Shiite repressions were shocked that America could do this. Now just 3 days ago, a girl was set ablaze for insulting prophet mohammed. Yet the West continues to ignore the petitions.
