  1. Ukraine put themselves in this position. They could have had their entire territory minus Crimea if they'd taken Minsk II seriously. Instead Beglenskyy laughed and said Ukraine's constitution does not recognize federalism (but they could edit it to enshrine their desire to join NATO in 2019 and ban negotiations with Russia in 2022). If they'd taken Istanbul seriously, they could've lost only the Donbass, but Beglensky ordered his troops to open fire on the Russans after negotiations and the siege on Kyiv was lifted. Now it will be even worse. Kharkiv and Sumy are on the chopping block, instead of 2 oblasts, Ukraine will lose at least 6.

  5.  @MrAndrey1101  he said "in Ukraine" not beyond Ukraine. There's no mutually assured destruction threat to Russia from a non-NATO member. They could theoretically take all of Ukraine and nothing will happen.

  8. @ NATO already has borders with Russia in the Baltics and Finland. Taking all of Ukraine is very realistic unless NATO want to launch false flags across the border, which could result in dire consequences.
