Crimea has been Russian since 1753 when the Russians defeated the Ottomans the same way the Ottomans won in Constantinople in 1453 (now known as Istanbul from the 1930s). Now in 1954 it was given from Russian Soviet to Ukrainian Soviet, a change within the same country. Now they're no longer the same country, but 65% of them still speak Russian while 15% speak Ukrainian. Crimeans protested the ultra right wing coup on Yanukovych and voted democratically to be part of Russia in a peaceful referendum that was televised the world over.

This alliance is truly a joke, its a hotbed of geopolitical intrigues. The UK and US have agreed on every step of the war in Ukraine, until the UK wanted Ben Wallace to be NATO secretary but Biden preferred Von der Leyen instead. Now UK is trying to "punish" US for rejecting their man by refusing to agree with cluster bombs delivery to UA 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

@radio9730 oh but Russia has not even started using banned weapons yet! Just send your cluster things to UA. Please do it so Ukraine can become even more fallow for potential migrants. There's a migrant crisis in Europe that UA can fix

You're out of your mind. Do you know what Kyiv with its high rise buildings and nightclubs and dense population will look like when Russia starts to fit cluster munitions to every Shahed and Lancet?

@Ryan-fq9dj believe me Ryan I tried to read your comment with a completely open mind and I can agree with you on the UK's views about cluster munitions so maybe the "punishing" I speculated was wrong. However I would like to point out that Ukraine has been using cluster munitions against Russia as well, and deliberately targeting civilians in the ethnic Russian dominated parts of the East (Donbass), using HIMARS and especially Tochka-U ballistic missile systems. A freelance journalist called Patrick Lancaster has a number of videos showing peaceful civilian areas of the Donbass hit as well as the wreckage of the missiles being used and their serial numbers. The only reason the US is announcing this now, is the quantities of supplied cluster warheads are most likely gonna be increased and the public will take note.

@radio9730 the entire world will recognize the annexation of Donbass, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson when the war is over, the same way they recognize the annexation of Crimea today. To the Victor go the spoils, and Russia is going to walk away from this war with a big chunk of ukraine's landmass. Mark my words on the epitaphs of the thousands of Ukrainians killed for NATO's sake.

@radio9730 how would you know what Belarus thinks? You aren't Belarusian and their President is Putin's ally. Your speculatory opinions are entirely yours. I do know that Ukrainian maps don't refer to Crimea as Ukraine, but "the autonomous republic of Crimea" (source: operator Starsky). They cut off all water, electricity and utilities from Crimea, they already know.
