His "balancing act" is not so balanced anymore now that Finland is in NATO. Putin will cut him loose now that the Russian Navy has increased its presence in the Black Sea. Their relationship will be interesting to witness in a few years.

@jesusofnazareth3507 make sure you remember that the next time he does something in Russia and China's interests right on the doorstep of the EU. A few weeks ago everyone was convinced Turkey should be expelled from NATO because of Finland and Sweden and their shifty election.

Erdogan reveals his hypocrisy in the middle of his "balancing act" by releasing Ukrainian terrorists to Ukraine while berating Sweden and Finland for protecting the PKK terrorists. SO its confirmed, Iran has emerged the number one ally for Russia in the region. Interesting twist of events, makes me wonder what leverage Putin would exert in revenge. I see Russia + Iran assisting Armenia against Azerbaijan. That should piss Turkey off a lot. I also see Russia + Greece causing a problem for Turkey (but that depends on how fed up Greece is with Turkey. They seem like defeated people). Finally I see a resurrection of Russia-backed Serbia vs the Ottoman Kosovar. Too bad, I liked Putin-Erdogan relationship.

@beaur252 in this age of asymmetric warfare Russia can hit Turkey without using Russian military assets, thereby preventing Article 5. There are a bunch of insurgent groups in Syria and Turkey who are only too willing to take revenge on Erdogan including the YPG and PKK; and dozens of smaller insurgent groups affiliated with Iran. There are tons of trade deals between Russia and Turkey keeping the d00med Lira afloat. Putin has never been one to initiate economic wars, but I'm just saying this is an option. Pandora's box has been opened and war comes in many forms now including land, air, sea, space, cyber. Anyway, I don't think Putin will fight Erdogan. He'll most likely just trust him less, Like Sharif of Pakistan and Pashinyan of Armenia.
