@suaptoest so why are these Finns letting their leaders drag their country into enmity with Russia?

@chau6340 it is indeed true that Russia sees NATO as a threat, and Russia is asking them to remain as they've always been: neutral. How is this intimidation? "Let's remain as we've always been" is intimidation? OMG Europe...

So they decided to join NATO because Russia asked them not to join? Even though, when Russia didn't need to say it, they didn't join and all was okay? Oh man... Why do leaders do this without even thinking about their citizens?

@arvopohja7693 like what? Russia and Finland have been at peace for decades. What would be the reason(s) for expansion of a military alliance in peacetime?

This is actually a terrible decision. For decades they've been neutral and thus maintained peace, and now because Putin is asking them to remain as they've always been (neutral), that's suddenly seen as a threat they must respond to by joining NATO? Respond to a request by becoming a threat yourself? It's time to convert all my Euros into some African currency or something. Europe is going to be at war and I'm not going down with these loonies.
