  3.  @molocc34  the US government knew about the ballon for a long time they just chose not to do anything and just observe but when they decided to finally shoot it down it was above the mainland and they didn’t want debris to kill people While I agree with most people they should have just shot it down instantly when it got to Alaska I also understand they didn’t want to risk anyone getting hurt even if Montana is sparsely populated
