  1. Actually, Putin wants to revive the Russian empire, not the Soviet union. He surprisingly doesn’t like communism or at least not what the Soviet union was when he was around in it he has shown aspirations to revive the Russian empire specifically to “regain all rightful territories” including Poland, Finland, and Alaska, which were not part of the Soviet union

  2.  @AntonyMurithi-xt4ep  Ukraine had nuclear weapons at some point they signed a treaty with the US UK and Russia, which they gave up their nukes and exchange for Russia, not becoming aggressive, and the US and UK would help defend them or at least enforce the treaty
