NATO is a alliance of cooperating militaries and those militaries have vowed to protect one another if one is attacked. same with the RIO pact it’s not just NATO same with ANZUS, South Korea, Japan and Thailand we have military alliances like this for over 50 countries, putting our nuclear umbrella above them. This is why we haven’t had nuclear war because those countries don’t have to make their own nuclear weapons for security, because the US would protect them with nukes, but they aren’t paying for that protection These are signed documents between national leaders for collective security against aggressive nations, such as Russia China, North Korea, and Iran
