1:10 This is the story I was told as a teen-ager, but what I learned later is she did it as part of an organized strategy to get arrested so there would be a court case and publicity. At the time of the arrest, Parks was Secretary of the Montgomery chapter of the NAACP. She had recently attended the Highlander Folk School, a Tennessee center for training activists for workers' rights and racial equality. This was omitted from the interview.

what you hold is myth, and we are not well served by that myth.

@knockedoutloaded Yeah, some in Gaza City had newer and better cars than I do. There was a ceasefire on Oct 6th and Gazans were travelling and working all over Israel. 20% of Israeli citizens are Arab. oldonetooth is a liar.

That's FALSE, and on the West Bank it is the other way around. You are a liar.

@OldOneTooth West Bank has signs to keep out Israelis under penalty of death, you do know that, "THIS ROAD LEADS TO AREA "A" UNDER THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY. THE ENTRANCE FOR ISRAELI CITIZENS IS FORBIDDEN. Habibi, I am old enough to remember Black September and Munich 1972. We know the end game, the Arabs told Churchill the plan in 1921.

@knockedoutloaded Today's children are also being told myths and will later find out they were lied to, so the cycle continues. Jim Crow was evil and needed to end. Her story is nonetheless heroic, only wish they had not lied to me by omission.

Yes, the movement required a myth. Parks was also the Secretary for the local NAACP and a trained activist, they always leave that part out.

"Rosa Parks" did not "Spark" the Civil Rights movement, 1955 came a year after Brown vs Board of Education. The "arrest" was a staged event by Civil Rights activist, they'd been trying to get arrested for this civil disobedience and Rosa got picked for it. The arrest was intentional. There reason I mention this is because as a teen-ager in the 1960s I was taught a myth story about Rosa Parks which as an adult I found out was untrue. The BBC is making the same mistake.

No, Rosa Parks was a trained activist and secretary of the local NAACP. This was a pre-planned action.
