RCP on Battleground States have Trump doing just slightly better than 2016, it's amazing, after all the bashing he got over the last 4 years, all the money thrown against him, it really didn't push the needle either way much. I'm trying to put my head around that.

@thecasualfront7432 Yeah, if there were just a popular vote, New York and California would run the show, look at a map of the US, popular vote would not remain "popular" for very long.

@a1budz871 There's been cycles before, Texas was once Democrat, that's fine. The electoral college tuned more for the 2 senator per state system we have, and that balance is not going to change much, thankfully. As we saw with Obama, states can swing wildly from Dem to GOP, but not the States. I'd add that don't count on the population from the south of Texas into Texas will be so "liberal", might surprise you.

@thecasualfront7432 I'm a native Californian, as are my parents, who were born here 100 years ago. Each state is apportioned delegates based on population, then each state votes with that number of delegates to the Electoral College. Trump lost the popular vote, but was a clear winner in the Electoral College, which again, is apportioned by population. However, each State gets only two Senators, and yes, that's a very good thing, because the Constitution was designed to PROTECT THE MINORITY FROM THE TYRANNY OF THE MAJORITY. This fundamental principle of constitutional democracy, majority rule coupled with the protection of minority rights, is embedded in the constitution. All diversity is lost without it.

@thecasualfront7432 Small groups, nothing like the 1990's, or my era of the 1960's. We had an altercation recently near me in Yorba Linda, CA. A Trump supporter was run down and had legs broken, BLM had a about 300, counter-protesters 1,000, in a metro-area of more than 10 million people. It's all under deep magnification by the media.
