Comments by "nuqwestr" (@nuqwestr) on "Olympics ceremony boss sacked over Holocaust joke - BBC News" video.
It was not a "joke", it was a line from a skit, where he was pretending to be a child, and the child's words were, "Let's play Holocaust". There's a laugh track, and that's it. This has all gone too far.

@kotokotoko_ I am a Litvak Jew, 90% of my lineage was burned to ash in WWII, and I am not offended by the skit. I read it before commenting here, and even posted it as you describe. Mel Brooks made a comedic movie and wrote a comedic musical about the Holocaust, it won an Academy Award and a Tony Award, I love both, and if that's "WRONG", so be it.

I'm a Litvak Jew, my uncles all fought in WWII. I am not offended by this joke, and even if I were, it is not grounds for cancellation. If we hold all artists to this ridiculous standard, we will be diminished as a civilization. This is not progress. In the sketch, Kobayashi and a comedy partner pretend to be a pair of famous children’s TV entertainers. As they brainstorm an activity involving paper, Kobayashi refers to some paper doll cutouts, describing them as “the ones from that time you said ‘let’s play the Holocaust”, sparking laughter from the audience. | The pair then joke about how a television producer was angered by the suggestion of a Holocaust activity.

What, I hear about it from YOU and YOURS everyday, there's just no evidence of it, none, since 1947. I saw a beach in Gaza full of people enjoying the day while Hamas bombed Israel. LMAO.

It was not a "joke", but words from a TV skit, where acting as a small child, he says, "Let's Play Holocaust" and then there's a laugh track. The next line is about how inappropriate the words were for TV. That's how ridiculous this is, at least to me.

Thanks, the BBC and the posters here remain ignorant when the info is a keystroke away. I read a transcript of the TV skit, and as a Jew, was not offended. Even the transcript shows the line given was inappropriate. This is way out of control, and needs push back.

"Al Jolson"? WTF! (◔_◔) - I'm a Litvak Jew and not offended, let the jokes fly, but I doubt you have a sense of humor, and most likely have a 1st edition of The Protocols of Zion, which is quite a funny read, if you like satire.

@hyderhassan3604 Play the circular logic game, it gets you just where you are now, nowhere. Only the Armenians have a case for an "unaccepted" genocide in that region, where Turks, Arabs and Kurds herded women and children onto boats in Haifa, took them out a few miles, and dump them overboard.

@m-e3103 "Chosen", those are not Israelis, the "Chosen" do not believe in the State of Israel, and they do not fight, they are exempt.
2
@ReligiousSeeker "Ever Since Then"? LMAO, yeah, go ahead, blame Colonialism for everything. Rubbish. The Raja's made it all possible, British East India could not have prevailed if Indian leaders, both Muslim and Hindu, did not sell them out, not just once, but over and over again.

@lfcblood7054 All words are abstractions, ever since the alphabet was created. Your point is not well made, try again.
2
@lfcblood7054 I'm a Jew, never like the term, "Semitic" also refers to a group of languages spoken in the region. Arabic is a "Semitic" language.

Or the families enjoying the beach in Gaza as Hamas bombs Israel. (◔_◔)

@PGR7 Sure, double standards are epidemic these days. Agreed. Or, better yet, Monty Python's "Life if Brian", could not be made today. It's out of control.
1
@Braintubes The Olympic committee in Japan cancelled others for different reasons, one for "sexual harassments" and "bullying", but you focus on the "The Jews". Why?
1
@abdulhalimmahmud7891 Yes, that's your claim. How's it working for you?
1
No, that's been officially forgiven, you need to catch up to the times.
1
(◔_◔) It is free, just doesn't want to acknowledge the fact.
1
What you assert is not true, even Jewish comics make Holocaust jokes, Mel Brooks won an Academy Award and a Tony Award for his joke about the Holocaust. Your assertion is nonsense.
1
@methhead3140 I'm a Litvak Jew, 90% of my lineage was burn to ash, but I don't think ANYONE should be put in prison for speech. Europe and the UK have it wrong, the U.S. still has the 1st Amendment, as long as we remain vigilant. Jews did not write those Draconian rules.
1
@アメリカは正しかった Japan and Germany both had "final solutions" which did not include each other.
1
@アメリカは正しかった "Ally" on paper, but not really. Both military classes, Japan's and Germany's, asserted racial superiority over the other. Japan still has cultural issues with the Gaijin.
1
@James 777 I'm not bothered by the joke, and say so in this thread. Mel Brooks won an Academy Award and a Tony Award for a joke about the Holocaust. This story is not about Jews, but about being cancelled for almost anything, at anytime. It's you who focus on the content, not the context.
1
@hyderhassan3604 Your analogy is a non sequitur. Are you saying Hamas has no Army? Then who in Gaza was parading in victory after the cease-fire? Are you also saying Hamas would use nuclear weapons?
1
@m-e3103 Which "Bible"? And do you think "a" Bible prophecy was fulfilled with the establishment by the UN of Israel? Israelis don't believe that, why do you?
1
@James 777 Exactly, the Jews in America didn't even agree on how to deal with the Nazis at the time it was happening. There was a huge split between two large Jewish organizations. The German Bund had a rally in 1939 at Madison Square Garden full of anti-Semitic speeches and banners, but some Jews felt free speech was more important, and supported the rally, while others did not. There's a documentary about it called, "A Night at the Garden". Free Speech is more important than anyone's feelings. There are only 15 million Jews on the planet, I still can't get my head around why there's so much focus on us.
1
@ReligiousSeeker Ridiculous, look at the displacement of population after WWII, in India alone, there were millions, as Pakistan and East Pakistan were created, and that conflict continues, even with both sides having nuclear weapons. Why such a laser focus on such a small place, with such a small population, when real genocide is happening in Africa and China to millions of people. Why the "Jew" fetish, my friend.
1
@omerfarooq968 Say it all you want, you are incorrect, and have been since 1948.

@appleslover Where's that coming from?
1
@stoufer2000 I think you misunderstand that the "cancellation" was not about the Holocaust, since other Olympic officials were cancelled for "sensitive" statements made years ago. Your focus is reveling.
1
@bdale5231 I think it is YOU who are unbalanced. This story is about cancellation, not what the cancellation was about, since others at the Olympics were cancelled for other the reasons. Your focus is your bigotry revealed.
1
@bdale5231 "Perhaps", why?
1
@PGR7 Soviets lost more than China, and it was not a "third", not even "about". 75 million died, both military and civilian, and perhaps 10 million Chinese. Big number, but not a "third".
1
@アメリカは正しかった Yes, I am in the U.S. and understand that part of history, although, it is not often told here.
1
@spawn6636 Agreed, they both had "final solutions" which did not include each other.
1
(◔_◔) LMAO
1
@stoufer2000 That your comment was funny, and I'm in the U.S.

Ramming Speed What about "Jews for Jesus", a world-wide organization of reconciliation?
