  1. We know more than that, the pipe was displaced, pulled from it moorings, it was not a failure of the pipe, but an accident with a cargo ship. Less than 3,000 barrels were release, it is not a major issue, with the exception of some local business that had to close down, like tourist boats and fishing. They will be back running in a week or so.

  3. I live within sight of both the spill and platform, the spill is less than 3,000 barrels and not an issue. We had a spill 20 years ago that was 5X bigger with no lasting affects. Please relax, it is not the end of the world.

  5. BP spilled 4 million barrels, this was only 3,000 and caused by a cargo ship pulling the pipe over 100 feet from its foundation, not the oil company's fault. US authorities sent a ROV to take video, so this is now confirmed. Only 12 birds have been impacted by this very small spill, it is a non issue. I live within sight of the spill.

  7.  @kc77kc82  Facts are out, they have underwater video from an ROV and gave details at an official press conference covered by the BBC, I saw it on broadcast TV. I live a few miles from the spill, it's been way over played, and had nothing to do with "drilling". 12 birds had to be cleaned, that's it.

This is a non issue, we will get new legislation as to how underwater pipes are handled, which is good, just like 20 years ago when new law required double hull tankers. There is learning and adaption, but again, not massive, not a catastrophe, and will be off the news cycle in a few days.

  11. 3,000 barrels is not going to "Destroy" Huntington Beach, which only exists because of the oil industry, which had hundreds of derricks running along the beach a 100 years ago. Oil is native to the area and has been seeping up since before humans were there. I live within a few miles of the spill, this is a non issue, relax.

  14. You have it backwards, put a lot of ships were a pipeline was laid down 50 years ago, the ships have only been backing up there for 18 months, I see them everyday, since they are practically at my front door. Only 12 birds have been found to clean, non issue.

Ship not from China, and not the oil companies fault, more proof we need wait for facts and not trust news reports as they break.
