The ethos of evangelicalism, "Spreading the Gospel of Christ", has shifted to a secular version of "Spreading the Bad News" of Imperialisms, Capitalism, and the White Supremacy of Western European Patriarchy. It's a catechism of nihilism and defeat. I'm a secular Jews who, as a teen in the early 1970s, was terrified by Charismatic Christians, and now terrified by the wild eyed Wokesters. I don't really see a difference in the base ethos of the two, both are cheering on Armageddon, just like the Jihadists.

Niall, Niall, the Germans knew little of Auschwitz and what they did see was propaganda of orchestras, swimming pools, and well-fed inmates along with the sign Arbeit macht frei. I've seen the propaganda films shown in German theaters at the time, Haven't you? I'm a Litvak Jew, no Nazi apologist, but don't conflate Hitler and Germany with Trump and America. Trump isn't that smart, his vision is narrow and he has the attention span of a gnat.

WOW, I was right there with you, we are the same age, but I'm a secular Jew who lived in the suburbs of Los Angeles "I was really into the Christian "End Times" because it was happening right before our eyes!". I remember watching the evangelicals on TV pushing Armageddon. It's now the Woke Left who push the Armageddon message, and I really don't see a difference in the character of who pushes it, now or then. Jihadists push for the "end times", too.

@grannyannie2948 The lesson from that is Australia and Vietnam are strong partners with a commitment to ASEAN centrality and a shared vision for a region that is peaceful, stable and prosperous and where sovereignty is respected. America also has normalization with Vietnam. Proof peace is possible.

The Kirk Douglas movie "Spartacus" was based on the book by the Communist writer, Howard Fast, one of the blacklisted writers of the 1950s. On March 7, 1936, Hitler repudiated agreement on the Rhineland and ordered the German armed forces (Wehrmacht) into the demilitarized zone in 1938. Austria welcomed Hitler in, next stop the Sudetenland. This began the reassertion of German power the PEOPLE wanted, and so did much of the World, including some in England and America.
