The Ottoman/Turk controlled the region of Palestine and ceded the land to the Allied powers. From that point on new history was created by setting the boundaries of the British Mandate. Arabs fought with the Allies to free the land. Jews fought with the Allies to free the land. Jews were willing to share, the Arabs were not.

@linmal2242 Both German and Austro-Hungarian borders were redrawn after WW1. Italy was unhappy with the new borders which led to Mussolini, Fascism and WW2. Pro-Hamas-Palestinian activists who took up the Soviet line only see the issue in historical isolation.
