1972 took journalism in Los Angeles, CA community college. The teacher said right out objectivism is not possible, so don't even try. The personal is political and will always be part of the story, you don't have a choice, so fully accept this reality and be the story. The "new" journalism is more than 50 years on, fully baked into the profession.

@Chalk89 The art of rhetoric and debate is still being taught, great, glad to hear it. I've been told the method of picking a side from a fishbowl and having to debate from a point of view you may not agree with has gone out of fashion. More's the pity.

@cezarysudol "guess"", why not be curious and ask, or is that too "old fashioned". Yes, I see incurious as the new wave of journalism, one that lacks epistemic humility.

@MATCHLESS789 I agree, we are born in that condition, and what civilization was all about mediating, including the Enlightenment and Classical Liberalism. Post-Modernist gave up and regressed into tribalism. How do you like it?

@MATCHLESS789 Tribalism is an outcome of post-modern/critical construction. Personal truth is given the same weight as empirical and reproducible fact. Qualitative Data is not equal to Quantitative Data. Post-Truth has led to silos of cosplay where deception is considered creative and artful, even when you deceive yourself. This road has been travelled before, and why the rainbow banners on my street, which replaced American flags, remind me of the Nazi Banners at Nuremburg.
