  8. Some homeowners did use pool water and saved their house. A month ago in the Malibu fire guy with diesel pump and pool water saved his house and his neighbors. We've known that for years but people did nothing. This is not all about politics.

  10. When the winds are that high planes can be grounded. I live here, have since the mid-1950s, been in firestorms, it's not that simple and we all knew this area was going to go up one day. Many homeowners did not clear the brush from their homes even with the risk of $500 fines. The truth is not being told, it's all too political.

  13. The Santa Ynez was down since Feb 2024 for repair but the much larger Upper Stone Canyon reservoir full and used in the fire, so was the Encino reservoir. LADWP is in charge of pipes for both homes and hydrants. No hydrants are designed to have 20 open at one time. Fire Fighters are trained to save lives, first, not property.

When the fire broke out, Alec and a friend used hoses, water pumps, and water from his pool to combat the flames and prevent the fire from spreading. Despite the danger, they managed to save multiple homes and even rescued a 100-year-old tortoise.

  19. Los Angeles County rents water dropping planes from Canada each year in preparation, but we were a month past the windy season and they were sent home. They came pack quick and used but one was hit by a drone and grounded. We were on "standby" with news warnings, power was turned off in some places and even roads closed. You have to be here to understand what a wind driven firestorm is like.

Also, Los Angeles itself expanded the San Fernando Valley Catch basin and captured 96 billion gallons of storm runoff, enough for 2.4 million homes for a year. Other counties are doing the same. San Diego has the largest desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere and provide 10% of San Diego County's water supply. Urban water use is only 10% of water allocated in California. Prop 1 covers all usage. I'm tired of writing this correction.

We've had this fire/wind issue for decades, and it spans both parties. If the homes down the hill that burned, many built in the 1950s, had made their own clearances, clearances by ordinance that come with $500 fine, hardened their Eaves and Vents with products available for retrofit, most would not have burned. You will see photos of one block built in the 1950s burned out while the next block over homes built in the 1980s not touched. At some point we have to look to ourselves, not the politicians.

  48. FALSE. Pacific Palisades is small area of 24,000 people. I lived there in the 1960s my cousins when to Pali and other cousins evacuated from Brentwood for this go round. We all knew the Palisades would go up someday. Anyone with experience driving Temescal Canyon could see this would be a huge conflagration. I think it was started on purpose, but not for nefarious reasons, just a sick person or some kids. We had two-days of warnings, even Topanga Canyon was closed ahead to the winds. I think all the warnings and prep triggered someone to start it off. Just my opinion.

My family built Newbury Park, my cousin is Wendy Drive, she went to Palisades High and her family evacuated out of Brentwood. I've seen many of these fires since the early 1960s.
