  2. FALSE that area has no forests and the brush and scrub are required to keep the hillsides from eroding. We have fire breaks there, we all hike and bike them. We've known this was going to happen for 50 years, just like we know and earthquake will hit us again.

I've lived this, and can remember the Bel-Air fire of 1961. The homes needed protection more than the hillsides needed grooming. There are new devices for eaves and vents that prevent embers from entering inside the dwelling. Most of these ranch style houses in the Palisades would not have burned if methods like that were used. We knew this was going to burn someday.

  13. Los Angeles County is 5,000 square miles with a population of 9 million. Pacific Palisades is a small part of that with a population of 24,000. I'm from the area, went to UNI, my cousins went to PALI and many are still there under evacuation. I've posted the info for perspective, many watching don't know how big LA is.
