The Jews fought with the Allied Powers to free the region called Palestine from the Ottoman/Turk in return for a promise of autonomy. The Hashemites and other tribes also fought with the Allied Powers. There was no tribe called Palestinian. I can name many Arab tribes, none had that name. After WW1 most Arabs did not want to see an autonomous State for Jews. The told this to Churchill in a 1921 report.
