  1. LA Fires nothing to do with climate change or global warming, that's nonsense, one fire was possibly a down power line the rest arson. Fire/Wind events have occurred where I live since before humans arrived. If they seem worse it's because more people are here. No structures were involved in the recent Lake Hughes fire and is good for the environment as many plants use fire/wind events to propagate seeds and the fire provides nutrients. Humans are adapting by hardening their homes to fire and new State fire codes. FEMA is only one of many who help those displaced for LA fires, many, many of our locals companies and organizations coming out to help and support recovery. We don't rely exclusively on the Feds.

  4. The Mexica/Aztec did not use the Gulf, they were a land-locked settler-colonial people from the North who invaded what is now Mexico in the 12th Century AD. Why name a Gulf of water after a people who never used it? Amerigo Vespucci was the first European to recognize that the lands Europeans landed on were not part of Asia, but a completely distinct continent. Vespucci's voyages took place between 1497 and 1504, and his observations and letters helped popularize the idea of the "New World". Name the water after one of the indigenous people who used the Gulf or Vespucci, not the genocidal Mexica/Aztec.

HOWEVER, I live in the region fired and in the Pacific Palisades we planted Blue Gum Eucalyptus all over for the last 120 years. They, as you know, explode in a wildfire. We are working at removing them in some areas. No koalas have been harmed. The coastal region was not in SEVERE drought. We have a drought monitor with ratings from 1 to 5. We just became a 1 in November, the lowest level of drought. The month of December was all fog. I'm a surfer in Malibu, we had a big winter swell and you couldn't see the outsiders coming for the deep marine layer. We just had a snow storm in Los Angeles County which closed roads, too. California, surf in the morning ski in the afternoon is true, and has been for all of my 70 years here.
