no by anyone with any sense of decency.

Yes, in fact LA County collected more than 50 billion gallons of runoff in 2022/23. Why lie. The 3 dams above Tulare have been upgraded and expanded by the Army Corp, you can see the video on YT. Why lie?
2
@deadlotCamper There a many reasons to remove dams that have been silted over. It's not one or the other. In Malibu Canyon there's a dam that silted over 75 years ago, does nothing, why not remove it? As kids we'd climb on it, very dangerous.

The *U.S. Army Corps of Engineers* has been working on upgrading and expanding the *Tule River Spillway* at the *Richard L. Schafer Dam* (formerly Success Dam) in Tulare County, California. This project aims to increase the storage capacity of *Success Lake* from *84,095 acre-feet* to approximately *112,000 acre-feet**. The expansion includes constructing a **10-foot-high concrete Ogee Weir* across the dam’s emergency spillway, which will help manage flood risk and increase water conservation capacity for the region. You can watch the process online. Rubin et al are lying about this stuff. Stop it.

@AD-ug9gt Hydrants are not designed to fight brush fires at elevation. the hydrants lost pressure, not water, it was physics, not supply. People Planes and Helicopters fight brush fires, the high winds and night kept most of those resources on the ground. Some people say homes should not be there. Homes can be hardened against brush fires, even retro fit old ones. Protecting eaves and vents from fire is crucial, especially in wildfire-prone areas. Here are some key measures you can take: ### *Fire-Resistant Vents* 1. **Ember-Resistant Vents**: Use vents designed to resist ember and flame intrusion. These vents often have corrosion-resistant and noncombustible wire mesh screens with small openings (1/16 to 1/8 inch). 2. **Baffles**: Install baffles to block embers, backed by wire mesh. This helps prevent embers from entering the vents. 3. **Approved Vents**: Use California-approved vents or retrofit existing vents with approved materials. ### *Fire-Resistant Soffits and Eaves* 1. **Non-Combustible Materials**: Use metal or cement-based products for soffit construction. These materials are less likely to ignite and can contribute to the overall fire resistance of the structure. 2. **Fire-Resistant Coatings**: Apply fire-resistant coatings to soffits and eaves to enhance their fire resistance. 3. **Proper Sealing**: Ensure proper sealing between soffits and the rest of the building to prevent ember intrusion. ### *General Tips* 1. **Regular Maintenance**: Conduct regular maintenance to ensure that vents and soffits are in good condition and free from debris. 2. **Mesh Screens**: Cover all vent openings with 1/16-inch or 1/8-inch wire mesh. Avoid using fiberglass or plastic mesh as they can melt and burn.

@AD-ug9gt hydrants are not designed for hillside wildfires. the issue was not supply but pressure at elevation, it was physics, not supply
1
@AD-ug9gt No, easy to fact check, it was not supply it was pressure. I live here, went to UNI, my cousins went to PALI and family evacuated. No mental gymnastics required, personal experience. LA County is 5,000 square miles, 9 million people. Pacific Palisades is a small neighborhood of 24,000. "The City" of Los Angeles did not burn down.
1
@AD-ug9gt That area of Pacific Palisades and Brentwood are where these "public servants" go to get money to run. Even Rick Caruso has property in the area effected. Former Gov Arnold is a neighbor, so are many GOP donors and former GOP politicians, including former Secertary of the Treasury under Trump, Steven Mnuchin. The coverage from Rubin, those at the Daily Wire and Hugh Hewitt have been polemics, they don't represent the facts on the ground.
1
@AD-ug9gt Richard Riordan served as the 39th Mayor of Los Angeles from **July 1, 1993, to June 30, 2001**. GOP.

@AD-ug9gt Fire hydrants are primarily designed to provide water for firefighting in urban and suburban areas, where house fires and other structural fires are common. They supply a large volume of water at high pressure, which is essential for extinguishing these types of fires. When it comes to brush fires or wildfires, different methods and equipment are typically used: - **Water Tenders**: These are specialized fire engines that carry large amounts of water to remote areas. - **Helicopters and Fixed-Wing Aircraft**: These can drop water or fire retardant on fires from above. - **Fire Trucks Equipped with Water Tanks**: These can access areas where hydrants are not available. Additionally, firebreaks and controlled burns are often used as preventative measures to contain and manage the spread of brush fires.

@Wooster23 FALSE. I hate the Dems for lying, now watching the opposition do the same. Stop it Los Angeles County has made significant strides in capturing stormwater runoff. During the recent series of winter storms, the county managed to capture over *33 billion gallons of stormwater**. This amount of water is enough to supply **816,000 people* with drinking water for an entire year. The captured water is stored in dams and spreading grounds, then treated and pumped into the groundwater aquifers to replenish the local water supply.
1
Not in Southern California. We have bond issues for capturing storm runoff in LA County, SB and Riverside County that will have the capacity of Shasta. San Diego is producing 10% of its drinking water from the Carlsbad Desal plant. I'm really getting pissed off.
1
That's Northern California, 500 miles away from this fire, FALSE.
1
This is Norther California, nothing to do with runoff capture in Los Angeles County LA County has captured billions of gallons based on new infrastructure plans. No one is covering it. Newsom also cut redtape to allow for this capture. Easy to fact check Los Angeles County has made significant strides in capturing stormwater runoff. During the recent series of winter storms, the county managed to capture over *33 billion gallons of stormwater**. This amount of water is enough to supply **816,000 people* with drinking water for an entire year. FALSE. There are fire break trials all through the Santa Monica Mountains, we hike and ride bikes on them. Why lie?

@rfree82 Buddy, I admined BBS systems in the early 1990s and wrote some of the first HTML code in 1994. You were not being sarcastic, only ignorant.

FALSE. There are no forests in Pacific Palisades and the water diversion for a fish was 500 miles to the north of this fire. WOW! We blame the Dems for gaslighting, watching it here on Rubin. Los Angeles County has made significant strides in capturing stormwater runoff. During the recent series of winter storms, the county managed to capture over *33 billion gallons of stormwater**. The "fish" is Sacramento Delta 400 miles away from this fire. Totally unrelated. Why lie?
1
@brettpiersall8850 Hundreds of miles away from Pacific Palisades, totally unrelated to the fires.
1
@venomousgas3300 All in Northern California, nothing to do with water in Southern California. Why conflate?
1
I researched all this 3 years ago when the rains hit SoCal and every one asked why it was all running out to the Ocean. Fact is was not, is being captured by the billions of galleons with more capture planned, like the expansion of the Bunker Hill Basin in San Bern. I would not vote for Newsom as dog catcher, was against the bullet train to nowhere when Jerry Brown proposed it, but stop lying about Newsom, it could get him elected, just like the lies about Trump helped get him elected.
1
@brettpiersall8850 Prop 1 was a state bond issue, for the whole state, but projects were completed in Socal Proposition 1, also known as the Water Bond, was passed in 2014 and allocated *$7.12 billion* for various water infrastructure projects in California. Some of the completed projects under Proposition 1 include: 1. *San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority's Whitmore Street Groundwater Remediation Facility Expansion* in Los Angeles County. 2. *City of Turlock Downtown Turlock PCE Project* in Stanislaus County. 3. *City of San Luis Obispo PCE Plume Characterization* in San Luis Obispo County. 4. *United Water Conservation District's Phase 1 Pumping of Coastal Brackish Groundwater Wells* in Ventura County. In the 2023 storm season, Los Angeles County captured 96.3 billion gallons of stormwater. This is enough water to supply about 2.4 million people for a year.
