UC Irvine professor arrested after protest declared an unlawful assembly wore a Red Scarf. The red scarf is a neckerchief worn by young pioneers of several countries during the socialist (“communist”) era. In the Soviet Union it was known as pionerskiy galstuk (пионерский галстук, i. e. pioneer's neckerchief), in Vietnam as khăn quàng đỏ (red scarf), in China as hóng lǐngjīn (紅領巾/红领巾, red scarf), in Cuba as pañoleta roja (red scarf), and in Hungary as úttörőnyakkendő (pioneer's neckerchief).

@ UC Irvine protest, a student leader showcased by the media did indeed appear to be in the throws of a psychopathy as she made wild claims about conditions in Gaza, ones the UN has recently walked back. Another gentleman with "flowers" wrapped in a Palestinian flag was also interviewed by media and was quite incoherent, another, with gas mask and hoodie turned out to be a high school student. The combined police force of Orange County, CA did a magnificent job, but the Mayor of Irvine, CA called them "violent", something the Mayor of Newport Beach asked the Irvine Mayor to recant. It's a mess, and being of absolutely no help to the people in either Gaza or Israel.

Creating a barricaded encampment and defacing property is not "Peaceful". I was at a "Teach-In" @ UCLA in 1972, so am that old, too. The pro basketball star, Bill Walton, was arrested at the "peaceful" protest, but he was not at all "peaceful", blocking traffic and access to Westwood Village. Walton's political personality was alive in his collegiate years on the UCLA campus. "One of the saddest days for Coach Wooden was the day he came down and had to bail me out of jail after I got arrested in the anti-Vietnam (War) protest. - Wiki
