@adrianazollo2688 not true, and women with property could vote in the first election in the United States. You've been lied to.

@robertdarling1968 Yes, she was on the Lowell High School debate team, about as "nerd" as you can get. Her dad was an expert in Gothic Horror novels and mother wrote a famous study on Lesbianism. Appears she is still being chased by childhood demons and profiting from it with best selling books.

@samanthaestrela4649 yes, she did, but did not define the experience. I have no idea how she defines "rape" in this context, but if it conforms to the 3rd Wave feminist definition, I'd be skeptical of her claim. I have memories from being 8 that now at 68 I'm not sure if they happened at all, as I've been telling the story for 60 years, and fact and fiction have melded into one memory. She has been very successful selling her memories.

@KMF3 She's succeeded and become honored for her trauma, that's something we must focus on as part of the push back on the current woke grievance culture.

@kimjohnson8471 Yes. somethings you never get over, but you learn in maturity to not attribute every social interaction to that one event. This was less an interview and more a therapy session.

@DeezScotts2023 Dr. Harold Bloom was 55 at the time of the "dinner party" and vigorously denies her claim. Only fair to point that out.

@adrianbelcourt9640 Wolf did not have a "perfect childhood", and was molested as a child, her father apparently had a secret life and fathered a child outside the marriage, so she has a half-brother, Mom was an anthropologist who wrote a ground breaking book on Lesbianism, so she had an odd and unusual life as a child. This was less an interview and more a therapy session. How do you integrate your past when your identity and income is so locked into it. Other writers faced the same issue and did not survive, like Hemmingway.

@SolarJakee Dr. Harold Bloom was 55 at the time of the "dinner party", and vigorously denied her claim. Are you interested in his side of the story?
6
Please do, you will find deep contradictions in her story presented here with what she has written in the past.

She was not "raped" by Harold Bloom, he put his hand on her thigh. Her description of this event has changed over the years, and I find her presentation here uncomfortable, as this was less an interview, and more a therapy session.

Harold Bloom vigorously denied Wolf's description of the "dinner party". Why don't we believe him? Perhaps we should ask other students on how he affected their lives. His books are still a major part of the canon in that field. Wolf gives a different description of why she didn't finish her thesis at Oxford then the one she gives here. I find that contradiction uncomfortable.

@naomijansen9810 Harold Bloom was 55 years old at the time of that "dinner party". She has written and described this event so many times, and in different ways, she now believes it herself. This was not an interview or debate, but a therapy session.
2
I disagree, she is not "self-aware", and her comments and description of the past in this conversation contradict what she's written in the past, and even past interviews. Take the time to research as I did, since it was clear from the outset this was less an interview and more a therapy session.

@chaucerianfraud6767 For centuries men have gone to war together as "normal", all return changed, but there are extreme variances on how that changed is expressed. Some come home and go on with their lives, others fight the war forever.

Harold Bloom was 85 when Naomi was 50. I feel like an intruder, as this is less an interview and more a therapy session. She has left so much of her life unresolved and remains disintegrated, perhaps because her identity and income is locked to it.

@jsbrads1 Could not have been the 1980s, no online videos

Even if she is lying about her past?

The man was Harold Bloom, 55-years-old at the time, he taught at Yale from 1955 to 2019 and vigorously denies Wolf's characterization of the event.

@larryallen3890 Paglia would rip her to shreds, and giggle while doing it.
1
Yale did not admit female undergraduates until 1969, at which time Harold Bloom was already 40 years old.

Yale: 1969, But don't forget, the "Seven Sisters" don't admit men except Vassar, even today, but do admit transgender.
