Jordan, the post-modernists were correct, so was Shakespeare; "The Plays the Thing". Believe my story and I have power over you. Submit to someone's story and they have power over you. It's very transactional. Does it exist anywhere other than in human beings? I think it does. Bees tell a story where flowers exist that other bees believe and follow. Bees use a method called the *"waggle dance."* but they don't always get it right. Here's how it works: - A foraging bee finds a good source of nectar and pollen. - The bee returns to the hive and performs a specific dance on the honeycomb. - The dance involves waggling its body while moving in a figure-eight pattern. - The direction of the waggle run indicates the direction of the flowers relative to the sun. - The duration of the waggle run communicates the distance to the flower patch.

Marc, at meetings in the early 1990s we were part of debates as to whether the Internet should be a public utility or privatized. Al Gore pushed privatization which led the the "eyeballs" model for monetization. I created some of the first banner "GIF" header ads in 1994/95, not happy with how things went. Even refused a position at your Netscape start-up. Too late now.

@baalstone675 "Best"? A story that has the "best" outcome. How do we know that in advance? What is the "best" story in regard to "Climate Change". I like Bjorn Lomborg's "story". Is it the 'best", how do we know in advance?

Usenet was developed in the early 1980s by two graduate students, Tom Truscott and Jim Ellis, at Duke University, but it quickly gained popularity and usage across various academic institutions, including the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Marc Andreessen co-created the first widely-used web browser with a graphical user interface, *Mosaic**, while he was a student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Later, he co-founded **Netscape Communications Corporation* in 1994 with Jim Clark.
