@thechongwolla This is an internal document with references. It was very critical of Israel. Read it before you call it a "lie". Fog of War, the USS Liberty was going to fast and didn't identify itself. The IAF fired and then realized is was a US ship and turned away, but the Israeli gun ships didn't get the message and kept firing. Read it, but I'm imagine you don't care for facts if they contradict your feelings. Again, the full report is online.

@voltaire5427 Oh, a direct threat from LBJ? I don't doubt there was pressure on active service personnel not to speak out, but they did, and some still do. I've look at both sides. Read the CIA unclassified document. Aligns with the data. Fog of War. The US has fired on friendlies, too, and so have the Israelis. It happens. After 1967 the US increased its intel alignment with Israel and increased military support. If what you believe happened to the USS Liberty was true, I don't imagine that would have happened. The IDF apologized for the error 3 hours after it happened. Survivors were compensated but unsatisfied by the amount, so the controversy persists.
