LADWP controls water to houses and hydrants. She's correct.

@LadyDoReMi hydrants functional, they had no pressure, there are other issues unrelated to mechanics of individual hydrants which are not designed for brush fires or 200 homes going up at same time

FALSE, even about the use of the bomb. Napalm bombing in Japan killed more than the two A-Bombs combined. Japan killed more civilians in WW2 than the Germans. You are ignorant of the facts.

@99Wombats Yep, Yamamoto's plan was to starve Australia into submission through blockades. Tojo didn't want to bomb Pearl, his was the better choice. Win by attrition a little at a time. Our kids are not being taught well, they are being taught by those who believe their story is fact. It's a power story. This comment most likely came from Moscow, Beijing, or Tehran to promote a power story of dissention and distrust, something many teachers do today.

Go push your conspiracy theory somewhere else, there is no Cabal except in your mind or perhaps you are paid to promote distrust. My first response to you was deleted. Japan killed more civilians in WW2 and if not for the a-b@mbs n@plam dropped by Curtis LeMay and the allies would have been much worse. The UK would have sent 4 engine heavy Lancaster bombers to fly alongside our B-29s and take out all of Japan. Your history is distorted. go away.

There's no "E" in Newsom. Where are you?

FALSE, total ignorance of California. I was born here in mid-1950s. LA did not burn down. LA County is 5,000 square miles with a population of 9 million. Palisades small neighborhood of only 24,000. "Marshall Plan"? nonsense.
1
"the fish" are 500 miles away, nothing to do with LA fires.
1
Altadena. CA is not rich and African American, it also burned.

I did not vote for either, a resident of LA County, but also know that neither are responsible for these fires. I was born in LA mid-1950s. Most comments on YT are clueless about brush fires in SoCal. I voted to recall Newsom but also know he signed an executive order so we could capture almost 100 billion gallons of stormwater in 2022/23 which is stored in the San Fernando Valley Basin just over the hill from the Palisades fire.

@snoopybluejeans Did you know these winds were predicted, the locals news warned us, the power companies warned us, and roads were closed in the area. Yes, South Africa and Australia go through similar cycles of fire. There's even a bird in Australia that starts grass/brush fires, it's called a "Fire Hawk"? The *Australian firehawk* is a fascinating bird known for its unique behavior of **intentionally spreading wildfires**. This behavior has been observed in at least three species: the **Black Kite (Milvus migrans)**, **Whistling Kite (Haliastur sphenurus)**, and **Brown Falcon (Falco berigora)**. These birds pick up smoldering sticks from wildfires and carry them to unburnt areas, where they drop them to flush out prey that flee from the flames. This behavior has been documented by both indigenous knowledge and modern research, and it's a remarkable example of how some animals have adapted to use fire to their advantage.

@ We were warned, power shut off and roads closed ahead of winds. Upper Stone Canyon reservoir fully functional. 70mph winds sending baseball size embers a mile away into suburban neighborhoods setting dozens of houses on fire at same time. That's how.
1
@ I live in Los Angeles County, born here mid-1950s. You?
1
@MamawsBiscuits ? Watch the 1962 film "Design for Disaster" on the 1961 Bel-Air fire in the same area. "Factors" have not changed in 64 years. New building codes saved structures and lives.
1
@cedarmanagement2343 Santa Ynez is not a "dam" but one of many holding tanks and reservoirs, including the Upper Stone Canyon reservoir which was fully functional. the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power runs water and electricity, not the LAFD. That includes hydrants and pumps.
1
@robertfalfa8939 I did a deep dive into the facts, and not just the ones that align with my feelings.
1
@ they worked properly, why do you say they did not. The issue was water pressure, not the mechanics of the hydrant.
1
@ No, hydrants are not used on hillsides, firefighters bring their own water in trucks and tenders.
1
@ They don't care, your fact does not align with their feelings.

Los Angeles County is 5,000 square miles, 9 million people. Pacific Palisades is a small neighborhood of 24,000. LA did not burn down and the Palisades will rebuild. Many of those homes were tear downs, it's the land that has value. Ask any fix/flip developer in LA and they will tell you the same. I've worked that sector for 20 years, born in LA mid-1950s, most of these talking heads are lying to you or just ignorant.
