Attack was charged as a misdemeanor, not a felony, the fake gun had a folding knife inside of it, and it was either in his backpack or not within reach as he tackled Dave, so he was not charged with Assault With a Deadly Weapon (ADW) also not automatically a felony here in Los Angeles, these charges are called "Wobblers" which allows us to make the charge simple or serious. This guy will get a year in County Jail, that's it. The bigger crime committed is by the people who are laughing at what happened. More to come.

@frankwhite4643 "Real", point is as stated. The attacker, based on preliminary data, was a loner motivated by something yet to be revealed, if it ever will. Attacks like this are endemic to our species, but often have social value which the lone actor will seek to receive. This one is receiving value, so others will mimic the behavior in hopes of receiving the same. The bigger crime is the current framework of value we confer to acts like this.
