My great-grand parents left the Russian Empire in the late 19th Century, fleeing from pogroms and forced conscription, and this conflict goes back to at least Peter the Great and the early 18th Century. But I think we should look at more recent history, WW2, and what happened in those two separatist regions when they were controlled by Nazis. Привет, друг

  5. Putin knows that as long as there is "conflict" in Ukraine, Ukraine cannot join NATO. NATO's charter prohibits a country with ongoing conflict to join. It's a chess move, and very effective.

  8. Taiwan is only recognized by 6 countries, and as the ROC, it does not recognize Beijing. It's still a civil conflict. Perhaps the oligarchs on Taiwan need to leave and give it back to the indigenous Taiwanese.
