I agree, the Beave's uncle Billy was an alcoholic who coerced him to steal booze for him. There's an episode with an exchange student where racism and bigotry are dealt with. For the person who mentioned "Westerns" and "Natives", if you pay attention, many of the Western movies and TV shows of the 50s and 60s were morality plays written by left leaning writers using the Western theme to promote liberal ideology, in very much the same way Rod Sterling did with Twilight Zone, and Gene Roddenberry did with Start Trek, which in many ways was a Western set in space. The show was revolutionary in that it was the first on TV to be written from the perspective of a child, and in many ways is the precursor for the long running TV animation show, The Simpsons!
