@rr4298 Climate is not Weather/Drought. We're in a double-dip moderate La Nina event, but can easily be in an El Nino next year with massive snow and flooding. In fact, climate change science predicts that's possible, but the error rate for future is too great, so predictions irrelevant. Northern California had record rain and snow this year, it just didn't last long.

@rinneganitachi4840 US Navy just ordered new SB-6, 1,000 of them, already able to launch from ships, drones, and small fighters. If "glide path" missiles are next gen, it's a battle of cost and R&D, who will better afford it, Russia and India, or US, UK, and EU? You are on a fool's errand.

OK, look at the SB-6 Block 1B intercept by Raytheon, made to stop glide path hypersonic missiles. Do you think Russia, with the GDP of Italy, can outspend both the EU and the US?

@Tonik-13 I agree, except it's not just the US complicit in the "proxy" side to the war, it's also a civil war over cultural values. Putin hated when Elton John performed in Kyiv, and rainbow flags marched in the streets. Few people understand this as a culture war. East vs West has a 1,000+ year history, and we're living it again.

@Tonik-13 Most is just "stupid" and not restricted to the "West", but endemic to humans. A business in my town with "Russia" in its name is getting bomb threats, so he changed the name. A store took "Russian Salad Dressing" off the shelves. During WWI German dogs like Sheppards and Dachshunds were poisoned and killed. Germans in WW2 banned Jazz music. Chinese who see fellow Asians turning West call them "bananas", yellow on the outside, white on the inside. Human Nature.

@natashapetersburg2816 "rocket" not missile, Raytheon has a modified SB-6 hypersonic intercept rated at Mach10+, trad RADAR no good, but the heat/plasma profile of glide path missiles makes them detectible.

@SpreadGuts Doomsday weapon, mutually assured destruction. The RS-28 was as much an economic necessity as a tech upgrade, and the claims of its nuke payload are overstated, seems designed for conventional payload. Regardless, the arms race represents economic and social health, Russia is no longer a super-power, and can only be a poison pill. How sad.

@SpreadGuts I agree $ reserve currency the real power, but it's magical thinking to believe it is going away any time soon. What backs the dollar is the "rule of law", and no where in the world is it more secure than the US. Not perfect, but still the safest. Saudi and India may make noises about the Renminbi, but they're not going to fully trust China any time soon. Next 20 years secure, after that, all bets off. Putin's move will weaken Russia, not strengthen it.

@SpreadGuts Yes, I agree, the "frozen assets" are seen as a "threat", and for good reason, supported by EU, UK, Sweden, Finland, and over 100 other countries. It's been used before, and proof the "rule of law" is what secures us all, not just the $ as reserve currency. Not changing any time soon.

@Ze TheGame Far more than "pretty words", Rule of Law equals trust, and trust is greater force than brute power, even among pack animals and other primates. Lot's of evolutional biology to back that statement up. Russia just lost what little trust it had among nations, brute force alone does not make it a super-power.

@Ze TheGame No, UN countries. I think NATO is obsolete. I am not unsympathetic to Russia's cultural struggle against the encroachment of the West. Putin's military solution to a cultural conflict is a mistake. Putin is 70, he won't pay the price, Russian children will.

@SpreadGuts "soon see", don't think so, but agree "one hegemony" is not good, not even the WEF's "Great Reset" as a solution. Look to Russia's East, China is encroaching, the HAN are there and growing in numbers, and there are more of them than Russians, and they have more of everything, Russia always had two fronts to pay attention to, and this has always been more than they could handle. This will be no different.

@SpreadGuts "This Fall"? I'll be listening to President Xi Jinping message to the 2022 Party Congress, perhaps there will be a message for Russia, too. But Xi better pay attention to the US mid-terms, a shift there, too.

@rr4298 I did a deep dive into the data, especially related to Lake Tahoe, when news reports falsely said it was about to "dry up", LOL. It wasn't too long ago that Oroville almost collapsed, we can see it again, and perhaps we agree, we need more capture methods, not less. NOAA even apologized for its bad predilections of the last few years. Climate and Weather very different.

@Ze TheGame The world has not "depended" on defense systems against nukes since I was in the 2nd grade doing "duck and cover" drills in 1962. We removed the NIKE missile sites from my backyard, and in the late 1960s, as teen-agers. we used them as party bunkers, there was one in Malibu, California that's legendary for the parties. Missile and RADAR technology has been a great investment for the West, I have a fantastic microwave oven to prove it. Thanks Raytheon! What do you have?
