Comments by "nuqwestr" (@nuqwestr) on "Gingrich slams activists calling on people to deflate SUV tires to fight climate change" video.
Affluent would have AAA, or like me, a device to re-inflate tires on hand, infantile is correct, but not as silly and dangerous as "tree spiking" back in the day.

@davidclark573 BTW, KOCH one of the largest contributors to PBS and environmental programming, how ironic.

Rip Cord Sure, and fully supported by both the State and Fed government. What's wrong with "fracking" done well? No pun intended.

@davidclark573 Gingrich a "Bircher"? He was widely condemned by JBS as an "internationalist", you are incorrect. Head of JBS was a Georgia congressman, but he was killed by the Soviets when the KAL airline was shot down. I'm a California Dem, but know history from all sides, a must.

@davidclark573 I'm no fan of Newt, but he was not a "Bircher", that's false, and easily researched. The LATIMES was once owned by members of the JBS, but that was long, long ago, and there's only one Koch brother still alive, the other too old to lead anything, you don't seem to cohere or be concerned about congruent facts.

Are you familiar Cellulose-based batteries which may be a sustainable and high-performance lithium alternative? They are in the 10X range of lithium and made from plant cellular material.

Rip Cord California has one of the largest deposits of Lithium on the planet, a mineral which is "mined" in different ways, in California it is already being pumped up with brine in a geothermal field, not what like other operations.
1
Rip Cord It's been all over the news, press releases from Gov Newsom, et al, and even Biden, just search SALTON SEA LITHIUM.
1
@charleslloyd4253 In the case of BRINE based lithium like in California very low mining and refining pollution, read about SALTON SEA LITHIUM.
1
@charleslloyd4253 Brine from the geothermal field is already pumped to the surface to generate geothermal power, and recirculated back underground. Lithium could be extracted from brine before it is pumped underground. Eleven geothermal plants are now operating in the Salton Sea, which Berkeley Lab describes as “pilot” operations.

@charleslloyd4253 Salton Sea is an issue, no question, but Gov Newsom already behind the program, and the Fed has invested, with almost 6 million metric tons predicted, I'd like to invest, too. My family was part of early development in Coachella Valley, and some of the street names in Thermal, CA are named after family members. This is a best case scenario, but there's also alternatives to lithium on the horizon made of wood pulp.

@your_local_dummy4137 At the turn of the 20th Century there were electric and steam powered cars, science and economics narrowed the field, it will do it again. The market is driving innovation, new materials like cellulose batteries made from wood pulp, NIPPON PAPER JAPAN as an example. The Carbon molecule is fundamental to our lives, but in some areas, approaching the end of its life cycle. 100 years, though, not 10.
