I researched this, and the contract was made with the highest religious authority in the Armenian Quarter. The PA and Jordan revoked this authority in response, so the Church then cancelled the contract. Muslims stepped in to restrict access, not Israel.

I've been told many times, since I do not read arabic, I can never truly understand Islamic scripture. But thank you for trying to educate me. The difference is clear in the current conflict. Jews don't require conversion, and in fact, have scripture against it. Israel is a secular state, there are Arab Christians and Muslims serving in the Knesset, the Supreme Court and the IDF. And while these rights have been conferred on occasion to non-Muslim in Muslim countries, it is a very rare thing. The word Israel means "To Struggle with God", very much like Jihad, only it is an internal struggle, and does not force others into the battle.

  29. You can easily become "versed", and learn there are two distinct groups of Armenians, ones that fled the Turks and spoke Turkish, and the older group which spoke and dressed Arabic. The did not mix easily, but both picked up arms against the Jews in 1948.

  30.  @FollowtheLightDirection  I only recently learned of this history myself, and that the 1905 census done by the Ottomans shows there were more Jews than Armenians in the Quarter. The population increased massively after the Ottoman genocide, then the Soviets repatriated most of those Armenians after 1950. Those who live outside the bounds of the Armenian church in the Quarter are small in number, and most have Jordanian citizenship. The leaders of the Quarter made the contract with a firm in Australia, the hotel would have allowed more Armenians to visit the Quarter. The story told here is not good or true.

While it's true that Hebrew was primarily used for liturgical purposes for many centuries, it continued to be studied and maintained by scholars and religious communities. However, there was a revival of Hebrew in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly with the rise of Zionism and the establishment of the state of Israel. Today, Hebrew is a vibrant and living language, spoken by millions of people worldwide.

That does not equate to your story of colonialism, or how you define it, which is the Soviet Era definition, something adopted by Arabs and Meta-Marxists in the West. Israel was created as a nation/state at the same time as Jordan. Why the double standard?

I posted about a report made to Churchill in 1921 by the 3rd Arab Congress, this was before the 1922 White Paper proposing 2-States in the region. The Arabs did not want a Jewish majority in the region and promised death and destruction if one was created. They've kept their promise, which is genocide against the Jews.
