  3.  @jillionairess  My paternal and maternal great-grand parents left the Russian Empire in the late 19th Century for Canada, Boston, then California, where in East Los Angeles they joined socialist fraternal organizations which promoted equal rights and healthcare for all. They helped start a free hospital in Duarte, CA which still exists today called "City of Hope". I'm a 3rd generation Angeleno who was born across from Disney Studios, same hospital Walt died in. I've been a registered Dem since 1973, first voted for Jerry "moonbeam" Brown in 1974.

  9.  @jillionairess  One side of my family brokered HUD developments like Newbury Park in Thousand Oaks, these were not "unregulated" RE developments, but private/public projects like Buena Park and Lakewood to house GI Bill vets. HUD eventually went broke building bad projects like Barrington Plaza in WLA. My step-mom was a delegate to the 1980 Democratic Convention and my dad was a Teamster Union member and treasurer. In 1976 we hosted the presidential candidate Senator Fred Harris and his Apache wife, LaDonna, while they campaigned. My RE family were all Dems on the Westside in the 1960s. Dems are off the rails and destroyed much of California will failed policies based and false social science data. They should have listened to Daniel Patrick Moynihan.
