  2. Not very nuanced. Henry fled Nazi Germany as a teen-ager, went back to do combat during WWII and used his native German language to save entire cities from destruction. His China policy may have balanced the power dynamic which led the the collapse of the Soviet Union. Henry advised on policy, never directed it until 1973, when he became Secretary of State, almost by default. Why so narrow a view of history and the man?

I'm your age, felt the same way you did then, but later learned more, and it was LBJ and McNamara who caused more damage than Nixon, Henry opened China which led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. No question horrible events happened in the illegal war in Cambodia, I have friends who committed those acts and live with them to this day, (MACV-SOG) just kids from suburban high schools unprepared to act as adults in that situation, that was a crime, no doubt, but can't be laid at the feet of Kissinger, but to war itself.

  13. Yeah, however factual, Putin's act of war will blind the world to those facts, more's the pity. I initially had sympathy for the assertion of history in the region, but no more. The more pertinent fact is the ugliness of human behavior during times like this.

  17.  @janurbanovic67  I don't know what will work, but most likely Putin will grind this out with artillery until he dies, Russia will then sue for peace and pay reparation. A new era of reconciliation will ensue, not unlike what happened with Germany after WWII, a country now the 3rd largest economy in the world. History seems to work that way, the U.S. and Vietnam are now friends, party because of the work of Kissinger. Politics sometimes makes for strange bedfellows. At least read the Wiki on Kissinger. I faced the Vietnam draft and hated Nixon and Kissinger, but no longer feel the same way.... which is the way of the world.
