Attorney General Holder and Secretary of State Clinton were plaintiffs' on the case and prevailed. "Holder v. Humanitarian Law Project" was a Supreme Court case where the court upheld a federal law prohibiting providing "material support" to designated foreign terrorist organizations, even if that support is non-violent, like legal advice or training in peaceful conflict resolution, essentially ruling that such assistance could be considered "material support" and is not protected by the First Amendment; this decision significantly limited the ability of groups to engage with designated terrorist organizations, even for peaceful purposes"
