@1czechit1 130,000 Arabs stayed in 1948, now 1.6 million and 21% of Israeli citizens. Many Arabs have many "titles" in Israeli, including as members of the Supreme Court, one who convicted and imprisoned the former PM of Israel, Ehud Olmert. Show me the comparable in the region.

Mate was born in 1944, how do you feel about him claiming to be a Holocaust Survivor? As a mental health professional, what do you think about his "attachment" to his mother and her actual experience as a Holocaust Survivor? I want to add, as an American familiar with Canadian history, his statement that Canadians are unaware of the Residential School abuses is incorrect, it's taught in school, and popular movies and documentaries have been made about the abuse. My impression is that something connected to his mother is motivating his flight from reality.

@freedombug11 Ottoman Empire did not "collapse", it lost a World War, one that the Arabs participated in, being traitors to their Ottoman allies. Choices have consequences. The British hated the Jews but respected them. The British loved the Arabs but had not respect for their ability to govern.

FREE IRAN The first major Nazi camp to be liberated was Majdanek, located in Lublin, Poland. It was liberated in the summer of 1944, not 1945. "We Were Children" is a 2012 Canadian documentary film about the experiences of First Nations children in the Canadian Indian residential school system. More than a decade ago, and the NFB of Canada now has dozens of ongoing projects. Gabor Mate is making another false claim, and at the same time not answering the question about HAMAS.

@mistergray9664 Did you check the dates? Do you remember anything from the first the year of your life? Does he say he remembers being in a camp? No, he uses his mother's suffering as his own. Something odd about that. I'm a Litvak Jew, some of my people got out in the 1880s and fought as American Soldiers in WW2. I can imagine how many cousins didn't survive the War. He's made a career as a "Holocaust Survivor", and often his "feelings" don't align with facts. If a Zionist is someone who supports a nation/state, then I am one. I also support the nation/state of my birth, America, something Mate doesn't even do for his place of birth, Canada, where he lives now. We live in a time when some people no longer believe in the Westphalian Peace of nation/state borders. I wish they would be more transparent about that. I wish humans will someday progress beyond requiring borders, but that day is not reality.

That part of the globe has been a human crossroad for more than 10,000 years, unlike the "indigenous" people of say Australia or the last wave that came into the Western Hemisphere. That word does not apply in this case. Even the word "Palestine" is not "indigenous", it is an Indo-European word, not Arabic, and first used by the Ancient Greeks. There isn't even a letter "P" or "P" sound in the Arabic language. After 1948 Arabs stayed in the new nation/state, they now number 21% of the Israeli population, serve on the Knesset, the Supreme Court, and the IDF. Show me the comparable in neighboring a State? The Kurds are more "indigenous" to the region than the Egyptians who flowed into Gaza under the British Mandate.
