Comments by "nuqwestr" (@nuqwestr) on "1 million daily cases: Why does the US fail to curb omicron? | COVID-19 Update" video.
@jcferrell931 Yeah, I've heard that bigoted remark before. I live in California, where the other extreme believes in righ-wing conspiracies to contaminate our children and inject them with IR chips. Number in TN are not that much different than MA. Same size States, different vaccination rates, but similar outcomes.

Omicron will act like a vaccine, some scientists are saying that, but not getting any press.
4
Record testing, too. Do you believe test numbers from China?
4
Nonsense, there are areas of the U.S. with almost 90% vaccination rates testing high, numbers are related to higher testing, not vaccination rates. The epidemiology of the disease will take a decade or more to understand, this guy knows it, so not making a scientific statement, but a political one.
3
How many have had Covid-19, gained natural immunity, and then later hospitalized?
2
@vickischneider8368 Flu virus always in mutation, vaccine different each year, and is a guess as to which variant it will be. May be lab leak, may be gain of function virus, but mutation is normal. The Corona virus is now with us, most likely will circulate for a long time to come, we need treatment more than vaccine.
2
@lu544 Yes, so looking at average age and obesity of a particular area of the US may be a more significant risk factor than vaccination rate.
2
Started there in SA, it will burn there US too and pass.
2
@jcferrell931 51% vs national 62% is not much of a differential, although it feels that way to you. I'm in California living with my own set of "irrationality" which I sometimes need to laugh at, so understood.
2
@cloudpoint0 No question, but I live in a state with over 79% vaccination rates also with a major surge. We should be talking "death rate" for Omicron, not infection rate. American states are diverse in area, population density, and demographic. Co-Morbidities differ widely, too. The methods used to persuade some Americans to get vaccinated has failed in places like Tennessee. Why?
1
Not sad, because not true, true only because you want to believe it. Lies are equally epidemic with this virus.
1
Nonsense, Tennessee has a 51% vaccination rate, average is 62%, but Tennessee reports same numbers as other states with higher vaccination rates, the surge is about 1/3 testing positive regardless of number vaccinated. Doctor is acting as a public health official, not a scientist. More DW anti-American reporting, why not go after France or Sweden?

@gottagowork Unvaccinated with co-morbidity, including age, and I agree. Healthy and those who have had Covid are perhaps not the ones being hospitalized at that rate. So much data, it will take years to process.
1
@gottagowork I agree, it will take a decade or more to parse the data from the pandemic, we are still in triage mode. Headlines are very bad, an anti-mandate politician in my neighborhood just died and the news said it was Covid, I read the entire article and her husband said she died at home from a blood clot, the test for Covid was post-mortem, but Covid on the Death Certificate. Numbers are a mess, and the picture we get from the news is a mess.
1
@gottagowork "pretty sure", there are protocols on how death certificate cause s of death are listed in specific boxes. I've not seen it, but the article lead was "covid death" and the fact she was not in hospital for covid and died suddenly at home was buried in the last paragraph. None of my local news lead with that fact, only covid as it related to her anti-mandate position. It's a mess.

Yes, the data will take a decade or more to understand, but public health officials like this one are in lock-step with a vaccine message not working in his own state of Tennessee, he should ask himself why and not do interviews.
1
@etfy4953 His state of Tennessee is only 51% vaccinated, he has failed as a public health official and should not be doing interviews.
1
@etfy4953 Yes, Fauci learned his lesson during the HIV/AIDS epidemic when he received death threats from those wanting a fast-two track testing for AIDS medication like AZT, he went from being a scientist to a public health politician, a role he's been playing ever since, and what was learned during that pandemic are now rules being used in this one, for better or worse.

American CDC reports full vaccinated being hospitalized, Doctor/Professor is lying, something that has became epidemic along with the virus. Is there a vaccine for that? (I'm triple jabbed)
