NOAA reported a lull in Hurricane and Tropical Storm activity this season, which did not align with their prediction, that may be due to increase in Saharan dust which cooled Atlantic surface temps. So far the season is below or at normal. The peak Hurricane season in the Atlantic ends in early October. A Hurricane close to the size of Milton hit Florida at Tampa in 1921. Was that due to "climate change"? Easy to fact check NOAA (NOAA)National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It's a bureau within the U.S. Department of Commerce that works to understand and predict changes in the climate, weather, oceans, and coasts.

  7.  @jcldctt  Ocean temps right now are 10 degrees lower in the Gulf than they were last year. I checked. I also checked with NOAA, the experts, and their predictions are all wrong for this Hurricane season, which they predicted would be higher than normal. It is now below or at the normal range. Check NOAA yourself, just a few keyboard clicks away. Even if everyone on the planet agreed Milton was human generated, the result would be the same.

There was a lull this hurricane season, storms fell under prediction into below, or at normal levels, and the peak season ends in early October. Again, I checked NOAA and NOLA. Easy to fact check. Hurricane Rita (2005) had lower MB 19 years ago, and Hurricane Michael (2018) was a powerful and destructive tropical cyclone that became the first Category 5 hurricane to make landfall in the contiguous United States since Andrew in 1992. It was the third-most intense Atlantic hurricane to make landfall in the contiguous United States in terms of pressure, behind the 1935 Labor Day hurricane and Hurricane Camille in 1969. I don't see the "freakish" pattern you described, but one that falls statistically in the normal range based within our period of record keeping.
