  1. The "legal" aspect cuts both ways, what pressure will there be on the courts when these unions dissolve or enter into disputes. The government should charge a fee, and perhaps there should be insurance like for businesses, since it's more like a small corporation rather than a "marriage".

  2.  @Hamsterdam91  Here in California there are no-fault divorces which have a fee of $450. But when contested and the divorce goes to court, court time is charged and the average divorce without kids is $17,500, and the average divorce with kids is $26,300.
