Los Angeles basin, before Europeans arrived, was known as "The Valley of Smoke" because of inversion layer and yearly wildfires of brush and Manzanita plants. I grew up in the area and experienced these fire 60 years ago. Earthquakes and brush fires, not climate change.

@braxxian not only that, we're getting rain in two days.

I'm a resident of the area, as a kid in 1968 Malibu Canyon was my go-to place, it burns. Full Stop. In fact, the Manzanita brush requires fire to reproduce, Wildfires existed even before humans there. Manzanita plants do use fire to propagate. In their natural habitat, manzanita seeds are stimulated to germinate by chemicals found in smoke or charred wood

Coastal California has had record low-temps and precipitation this year. I live at the beach and have not used air-conditioning since last year. In the last few weeks we've have dense fog on our coastline. Global Warming means "global", our local weather has been cooler and wetter this last year.

No worries, with ocean levels rising due to Climate change, this area will all be under water in 30 years.

Fires not that bad, exaggerated by DW.

Normal in that area of Malibu, it was my backyard in the late 1960s, more than 50 years ago. Normal to the area.
