LMAO, then she probably ate a Chicken Sandwich, please, save me from the Hyper-Empathetic.

I live in a suburb of Los Angeles and used my air-conditioning all summer long. To all the Chicken Littles, the sky may rain ash, but it is not falling.

@CaillousStepDad You can't have it both ways, either I'm an evil oil exec or someone in a clueless bubble. I live in Southern California, about 40 miles from the Bobcat fire started accidentally by fireworks during a party for a gender reveal. The fire only affected a handful of people in Los Angeles County. Why do you feel the need to exaggerate that fact? And why do you call me a liar for saying so?

@shepherd3085 My mistake, it's called the El Dorado Fire in Yucaipa started by the gender reveal, the Bobcat, which is closest to me in Long Beach, is in Monrovia. Thanks for the correction.

Trump is right now on the West Coast. The Fed has offered help, but our leaders have refused it for political reasons, you have it all backwards, and are self-deluded.

I've been on the West Coast since 1955, DW is hyping this beyond reality. Many on this thread have no idea how big California is geographically, or the West Coast. The vast majority of the population is unaffected by these fires, which are in rural areas. People seemed to have an inherent need to believe this stuff, that's more scary to me than the fires, or Climate Change.

Do what? He is on the West Coast now, so tell me, what should he do?

Eugene at risk? I know the Holiday Farm Fire up north was bad, but is the city of Eugene burning down? No wonder the State Fire Marshall resigned.

@Tobias_Schoenwald Trump the man, or Trump the president. The office of the presidency is bigger than one man, and the US has survived many worse than Trump. FEMA is the agency that will be helping, as they always do, sometimes well, other times, not so well, but it's because humans run it, not Trump.

I live in California and unaffected by the fires. Nonsense, there have been fires here since before humans arrived.

@shepherd3085 I got ash, but no smoke, which quickly goes up to 10,000 feet. I've lived in in CA since 1955, been close on a number of occasions, but the news is magnified, and the crazies come out which create so much noise, I like to push back on it.
1
@shepherd3085 I was looking at Western North Carolina, but last month they had a 5.1 Earthquake!
1
I also live in California, and the majority have been lightening strikes, except the one near me, the Bobcat fire, which was started accidentally with fireworks. Fact check that, too.
1
DW has distorted this, I used to trust them, no more.
1
You understand better that most, here in Southern California we have grass fires like yours, driven by winds. But most of these fires are in rural areas and do not affect the vast majority of our population. DW is exaggerating and distorting the facts.
1
That's normal. The trees have a natural protection to fires, the houses are made vulnerable because of wind driven embers going into vents and igniting them from the inside. This is well-known, and there's even a "This Old House" episode about it. New codes need to be written, and the new style vents need to be used that close down when there is a combination of fire and high winds. Check your facts.

The fire near me was started by an accidental fireworks display, the people are being charged with it, and will have to pay the expense. They are not eco-Terrorists, just a young couple doing a "gender reveal" LMAO.
1
@deathlessoutlaw8136 No, that's what you've been told, by people in tin foil hats, been there, done that, grew out of it.
1
@deathlessoutlaw8136 I did not say climate change was not real, or there are not "lone" crazy arsonists. Common-Sense and a reading of history make it clear the level of "conspiracy" you assert is not true, and never has been. Oswald shot JFK and the Rosenbergs were guilty, etc., etc., etc..
1
Nah, fires on the West Coast are part of history going back before people were here. Even before Europeans arrived, ingenious people started fires to help their agriculture. You are self-deluded.
1
I don't disagree with moving money to infrastructure, and in fact, that's part of the Republican platform of Donald Trump. I think "failing" is too strong a word, we've survived much worse and went on to succeed, and why the US still attracts both people and money.
1
"Mass Casualties" - don't believe this DW hyperbole, I've lived on the West Coast of the United States since 1955, and while fires are bad, and it's sad, it is not a MASS CASUALTY apocalypses. I am so disappointed by DW, who can no longer be trusted.
1
LMAO, we are not so foolish to believe that, I live in California, and the fires are part of living here, and have been since before Europeans arrived.
1
LMAO, brilliant!
1
Most are from lightening strikes, one, near me, was accidental fireworks. which has been contained. Most of the fires are in rural areas, and the vast majority of the population of the West Coast is unaffected. The fires are a result of a mixture of occurrences, both man-made and natural. Doesn't that make more sense than the political and religious pronouncements on this thread? DW is exaggerating the reality of our fires, and that makes me sad.

Susan Farley I have lived in California since 1955, here in Los Angeles County we have fires every year, I don't understand your comment?
