They no longer exist, neither does this agreement.

@peabase ? Assad was "the state", that was the fundamental problem. Let's see if the new Syrian state will make a new agreement. The prior agreement allowed UN oversight. Will the new Syrian state allow UN on the ground.

The Soviet Union officially created the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (Ukrainian SSR) on **March 10, 1919**. This followed Ukraine's declaration of independence from Russia in January 1918. The Ukrainian SSR became one of the founding republics of the Soviet Union in **1922**. Ukraine became an independent country in *December 1991**. The process began in August 1991 when the Ukrainian parliament adopted the Act of Declaration of Independence. A referendum held on December 1, 1991, saw **over 90% of voters* supporting independence. The Soviet Union was formally dissolved on December 26, 1991, solidifying Ukraine's independence.
