@Joseph_thefather Nasser started the war while aligned with the Soviets in the aspiration to become the leader of a pan-Arab empire. He lost, Egypt lost, and so sued for Peace.

The Agreement on Disengagement between Israel and Syria was signed on May 31, 1974. This agreement followed the Yom Kippur War and aimed to create a buffer zone monitored by a UN peacekeeping force to separate the opposing forces. The Assad Regime began in 1971. They no longer exist, neither does this agreement.

user-vh3ef8pk4x Yes, the cessation agreement was with the Assad regime which no longer exists, so the agreement no longer exists.

@peabase ? Assad was "the state", that was the fundamental problem. Let's see if the new Syrian state will make a new agreement. The prior agreement allowed UN oversight. Will the new Syrian state allow UN on the ground.

@paulkeller6075 This statement of "resistance" still exists. Learn what the colors in the flags of Jordan, Syria, and Palestine mean. The perspective persists. Report on the State of Palestine presented to the Right Honourable Mr. Winston Churchill P.C., M.P. by the Executive Committee of the Third Arab Palestine Congress. Jerusalem, March 28, 1921.

@isasaleh1508 Israel didn't change government nor it's rule of law. What rule of law currently exists in Syria. It's new.

@shahnavazvhora2286 no, Russia attacked Ukraine, whatever Ukraine wins could be used as a buffer-zone under UN supervision. The two histories are not equivalent. The Soviet Union officially created the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (Ukrainian SSR) on **March 10, 1919**. This followed Ukraine's declaration of independence from Russia in January 1918. The Ukrainian SSR became one of the founding republics of the Soviet Union in **1922**. Ukraine became an independent country in *December 1991**. The process began in August 1991 when the Ukrainian parliament adopted the Act of Declaration of Independence. A referendum held on December 1, 1991, saw **over 90% of voters* supporting independence. The Soviet Union was formally dissolved on December 26, 1991, solidifying Ukraine's independence.
