I live in Los Angeles County, and have since 1955, we have fires in late summer, and with cooler fall weather, the winds stop and the fires are contained. In fact, that's happening right now, I didn't even need my AC yesterday. Trump's an a-hole, but he is factually correct on this one.

@torvilasulvstle362 Yes, a-bomb closer than most know, and Nixon's deal with the Saudi's in 1970's also made things close, but we are here, and your kids, if you have any, will most likely be fine. While many are talking panic, others are working on solutions.

@taissapereira2578 Thank you, he does not deny there's probably climate change, he doesn't believe we've past a "tipping point" or that the world will end in 10 years, as Greta's speech's proclaim. He's pragmatic about what we can do, that's all. How do you stop China, India, and Brazil from obtaining cheap energy to grow? Dr. James Hansen, the father of climate change science has some solutions, and one of them is Breeder Reactors, nuclear, the other side denies the science that shows nuclear is a big part of the answer to replacing Carbon as a fuel. The CENTER must hold, and not listen to the noise coming from either extreme.

Fires are not so "unprecedented", only reason you are hearing about them is because more people are in the fire plain. I live in Los Angeles County, and what Trump said is factually correct, he was just an a-hole to the MSM in his delivery. Trump 2020.

YEP, Trump 2020 for me, and I am a California Democrat since 1973. A lot cooler here in Los Angeles, didn't even need my air-conditioning. Trump's an a-hole, no doubt, but he's done more positive things in 4 years than Obama did in 8. I was wrong about Trump, and now voting for him for the first time.

That's one aspect for potential change, but not proof. Those, however, who say we are past the tipping point, and the world will end in less than a decade, are deranged, and that's who Trump makes fun of.

@WildwoodClaire1 I am 65, just got on Medi-care, and full social security next summer. I am not "wealthy" and got help from the Fed and State which keeps me in my home. Since the "dollar" is not backed by anything except "good faith" at this point, and it is the standard currency in the world, unlikely to change in the next 30 years, you are right, I am not worried. Stop the globalists from "flattening" the world, become a populist American proud of its exceptionalism, and you, too, may enjoy retirement as I am. Trump 2020

@oldineamiller9007 No, YOU are wrong, and as I posted in reply to you, I am not only well aware of "The Cooling", I purchased the book of the same name in 1976. Trump was not referring to the almost 50 year ago discussion on a new ice age, which is possible, but not probable, in the next 100 years. He was talking about what happens every year, on the West Coast, we have fires during heatwaves, the heat "cools", the winds die down, and the fires are contained. I live here, and that's what he was talking about, you are just having some fun with the old "Ice Age" speculation from 50 years ago. Not helpful.

I live in Los Angeles County, and "cooler" is happening right now, and DOES help firefighters, because when there is less heat inland, the winds calm, and the fires don't spread and can be contained. I've lived the fires for more than 50-years, and while Trump's delivery is "snarky" and "offensive", it is factual. I'm a grown-up, and can look past the surface personality and see the substance, which is there.

@Emre Mutlu Well, perhaps some, but it's really an effect of winds dipping down from the north bringing in cooler air, again, happens every year, and we get these "cut-lows" and "eddys", so it's hot for few days, then it can drop 20-30 degrees overnight. I live near the ocean and there's now dense fog, that moisture moves inland and helps firefighting, too. DW hates Trump, and so makes everything he does look bad, it's not.

Human time and Global time exist in different perspectives. Yes, there are problems, and yes, there are solutions. Getting overheated and panic stricken will not solve anything.

@powerslave6944 I'm a Democrat voting for Trump, and do not think he is "G_D", nor does he thinks so, like me, he thinks the panic over climate change is deranged. We need to address the burning of fossil fuels, but maintain the economic structure that makes change possible. That's pragmatic, and I agree. Perhaps you prefer a change in the economic structure. Fine, give it a shot.

Trump's "Cooler" quote is about RIGHT NOW, which is true, and without the inland heat the winds die down and firefighters can contain the fires.
