Yeah, fire trucks have water tanks and also water tenders come too, that's been lost in this thread. Also, the Stone Canyon Reservoir serves the Palisades with 3.4 billion gallons of water and was full and functional. The copters were pulling water from there and Encino Reservoir.

That lake is no where near Los Angeles. What are you talking about? Not to mention it was never a full time lake, it was a swamp even the Natives hated, they never stayed there during the summers. Stone Canyon reservoir was full. Palisades built 1950s/60s before current fire codes in place. The State Fire Marshall has programs and materials about how to fire hardened your older home. "Vulcan Vents" one product. People in the Palisades who followed those recommendations have homes still standing.

Most fire trucks fight wildfires with their own water and bring in water tender trucks. I've been in firestorms with 60mph winds and embers the size of baseballs. Unless your house is protected, nothing will keep it from burning, which mostly happens from the inside out, especially in narrow canyons. The Palisades was built in the 1950s/60s and did not have to burn. No one wants to understand the real reason it did. Homeowners themselves did not hardened their own homes to fire nor follow the brush clearance ordinances already on the books. I first lived in Pacific Palisades in 1961, my cousins went to Palisades High. We all knew for decades this would happen. Check out the Bunker Hill catch basin, will be bigger than Shasta. Not just runoff, San Diego has the largest desalination plant in the Western Hemisphere, 10% of potable water in San Diego County. That's being expanded, too, and other regions getting that, like Oxnard, CA. Although it took too long, The Sites Reservoir in Northern California should be fully operational in 2030. You are being lied to.

???? That aqueduct never went DRY. The Van Norman dam was out of commission because of the 1971 earthquake. We still get 25% of our water from the SWP through the central valley. I've also hiked and biked the trails in the Palisades and worked for the Santa Monica Mtn Conservancy. In 1972 I spent two weeks on the hillsides above PCH with a burlap sack collecting grass seed to reseed an area burned in Topanga Canyon. Again, why do you want to believe a lie? There was plenty of water for homes, but no pressure at the hydrants, which are not designed to be open 20 at a time.
