No "Air Force" then, Air Corps. The United States officially began using the term "Air Force" with the establishment of the U.S. Air Force as a separate branch of the military on September 18, 1947. This came about with the signing of the National Security Act of 1947, which reorganized the U.S. military and created the Department of the Air Force.

Would Gay men thus act differently toward another man in a combat situation?

Do Gay men act differently Men are present?

Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth is against woman in combat positions.

Yes, you nailed it, "occupational specialty standards". A woman fighter pilot who downed a drone was just awarded the first ever air combat medal to a female. She met that standard, which is quite different than an infantry standard. Just common sense.

@JohnJourdan8 US has no draft, all volunteer.
1
@JohnJourdan8 The United States does not currently have an active military draft. However, the Selective Service System (SSS) is in place, which requires most male U.S. citizens and immigrants between the ages of 18 and 25 to register for potential conscription in the event of a national emergency or war.

@JohnJourdan8 I have substantial "cash and prizes", no lady. I agree with Hegseth that positions should only be filled by those who all pass occupational standards, regardless of gender. I defer to his experience as to ground battle troops being one gender. Not my call.
1
@JohnJourdan8 There is no current "draft". I was 18 when the draft ended but had a number, although they had not called a number in two-years. For 50 years I thought I could have been drafted into Vietnam but was wrong, I was two-years too young.

@JohnJourdan8 why not AustrianPainter420, or was that taken?

@sidneybuckaloo But then you'd need all Gay Men units and all Lesbian Women units, too.
1
If it's all about "Who you Love", then would Gay Men and Women need separate Units? Something doesn't make sense; the only thing that does is meeting the occupational standard of the position. Equality, not Equity.

Do Gay men treat men differently in a combat situation.

@Patson20 I lived in San Francisco for 10 years and not live in a predominantly gay neighborhood in Southern California. My experience for the last 55 years makes and absolute answer unknowable. The best solution is from experience. Our military should have specialized occupational standards without regard to Equity. Pure meritocracy. A 5'2" woman at 110 lbs might be a better F16 fighter pilot than a 6'3" 230lb man.

@nicholsonjay4724 I don't know, just asking the question. My closest friend is Gay and he talks about what it was like in Jr High to shower with other boys. This brings up the question of school bathrooms and showers, too, in regard to the transgender debate. I don't have an answer.
