@erosmangr74 I am not disagreeing with you, and Marcuse was a Marxist, as is Chomsky, but they have morphed into different flavors. Gramsci and Marcuse saw that America would not have a violent worker revolution, and change would come only from inside the institutions, taking a long time to bare fruit. That's the major difference, and the one we are confronted with now. Cultural Marxism as a host virus.

@erosmangr74 "Organizing" and " Appealing" to animal "base" instincts were born from the precepts of the Enlightenment. Marx followed a synthesis he found in the Enlightenment based writings of both Darwin and Malthus. I think Anderson was thinking in those terms with his comment on Marx. Fundamentally, we agree, the current virulent form of Marxism is destructive to the collective good and progress of humanity, and there needs to be push back, but we should not regress into other destructive myths, many of which exist in the Judaeo-Christian lexicon of history. Take the good from both, but then move on... that's progress.

"Atheists", if you discount, or are unaware of, the influence of Aristotle, Plato, the philosophies of Stoicism, Skepticism, Cynicism, and Epicureanism, on the early Christian Church Fathers, including St. Paul, and later St. Augustine, then you have no real understanding of your own faith, and little business criticism others who do.

Systemic Anti-Racism ALSO requires a bureaucracy of exclusion to be administered by power brokers, political predators, and blackmailers. I don't see a difference. Why do we so freely and easily give up our human agency to others?

One of the father's of "neo-Marxism", Herbert Marcuse, in 1964, wrote of the "One Dimensional Man", which gave us the current framework for anti-Enlightenment activism. @erosmangr74 I will take it back further, to Diogenes, who said "The only place to SPIT in a rich persons house is in their face". I think that's been a persistent sensibility over time, but one that's both narrow-minded and lacking in humility. I would have asked Diogenes, "If in a poor persons house, where would you SPIT, anywhere?" That's what these anarchists are, narrow-minded hypocrites willing to "SPIT" anywhere. It's been an issue with humans well before Karl Marx.

I think Anderson was putting Marx in the context of the Enlightenment along with Darwin and Malthus, which could be defended.
