  1. "mindfulness", as defined by these guys. is what Marx referred to as "The Opiate of the Masses" incarnated into a contemporary framework. It's religion, a medication to eliminate the affects of reality, to transcend the physical into some form of spiritual paradise. Yeah, I think this has been tried before, with disastrous results.
